Vapeboss – Meta platform, a company affiliated with Facebook, plans to launch its latest microblogging application, Threads. The application's presence is touted as a competitor to the Twitter application as this news emerged a few days after Twitter's chief executive, Elon Musk, limited the number of posts users can view.
The launch of the Threads app itself is scheduled for Thursday, July 6, 2023. The app is envisioned as being much like a chat application but based on Instagram text.
Reuters quoted an Apple App Store listing as saying the app will allow users to follow accounts they follow on the photo-sharing platform and retain the same username.
Twitter announced a series of restrictions on the app, including the requirement to be verified to use TweetDeck.
Musk's latest announcement to address data scraping has sparked a backlash from Twitter users. Advertising experts say it will undermine new CEO Linda Yaccarino, who took office last month.
Meta has not announced whether it will perform a similar launch on the Google Play Store.
The temporary reading limit was later increased to 10,000 posts per day for verified users. 1,000 posts per day for unverified users. 500 posts per day for new unverified users.
