Vapeboss – Electronic cigarettes or vapes have become increasingly popular worldwide in recent years. The reason is that vapes are often considered safer for users' health compared to conventional cigarettes. In addition, vapes are believed not to leave a lingering odor on users' clothes. Their vapor is also more fragrant, making them more attractive to young people and contributing to the high number of vape users in several countries.

A report by market and consumer data company Statista Consumer Insights shows that Indonesia is the country with the most e-cigarette users in the world, especially in Asia. Recorded, 25% of Indonesian respondents said they use e-cigarettes at least occasionally. The survey was conducted online among approximately 1,000-9,500 respondents aged 18-64 from various countries, including Indonesia. The survey was carried out between January-March 2023. Vapes have become increasingly popular in recent years, particularly with the emergence of new brands like Elf Bar.

"In Indonesia, 1 in 4 people surveyed by Statista Consumer Insights reported having used vapes at least occasionally," Statista wrote. Meanwhile, in Europe, Statista's report shows that vapes are quite popular in Switzerland (15% of respondents) and the UK (13%). Vape use in the United States and Canada is also quite popular, though lower than Indonesia, as shown in the graph above. On the other hand, Statista's report indicates that vapes are less popular in Brazil, where only 6% of respondents said they use vapes at least occasionally. Even fewer in Morocco, with only 2% of respondents giving the same answer.

Not only Indonesia, as the country where vape technology originated, China is also the country with the most pod vape users in Asia. This is not surprising, as the country's population reaches 1.4 billion people. China also dominates 80% of the world's vape market with a 33% increase in sales in 2015.

"Disposable e-cigarettes have also drawn criticism for targeting young consumers through their marketing campaigns and enticing them to smoke. Although vapes do not burn tobacco, they often still contain nicotine, which is highly addictive," said Statista.

According to Statista, vapes are generally considered less harmful than smoking tobacco and are often used as a tool to help quit smoking. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) warns that it is too early to say what the long-term effects of e-cigarette use or the impact of exposure to them might be.
