Vapeboss – The General Chairman of the Indonesian Vape Retailers Association (ARVINDO), Firmansyah Siregar, responded to the issue that vaping can cause popcorn lung disease. Popcorn lung is an inflammation of the smallest airways in the lungs. Firman stated that this claim is unwise, as there is no scientific research evidence.
"Claims that corner vape by ignoring research, comparing the risk levels of vape, seem to want to extinguish people's right to choose an alternative nicotine delivery system," said Firman when contacted by the media recently.
Firman explained that the issue of vape causing popcorn lung has been around for a long time. However, this issue emerged based only on assumptions. Based on research from Cancer Research UK, Firman added, no concrete evidence has been found linking popcorn lung to vape. According to him, the British government must have reasons for encouraging its citizens to switch to vaping as a nicotine substitute.
A few years ago, there were reports that some teenagers in America suffered lung damage due to vaping. However, after investigation, this was found to be due to the use of illegal e-liquid containing THC. Firman believes that responsible vape use actually helps stop smoking habits.
"Anything in excess is certainly not good, and the best condition is not to smoke and not to use vape," he said.
