In its decennial celebration, Vapeboss, as one of the largest vape companies in Indonesia, took a significant step to support environmental conservation.

Vapeboss is committed to carrying out a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) project, a corporate social responsibility movement aimed at making positive contributions to society and the environment.

As a form of its commitment, Vapeboss partnered with the Trilogy Ocean Restoration Foundation to establish a Coral Reef Park on Cilik Island, Karimunjawa National Park, with a target of planting up to 1,000 coral reefs.

"Vapeboss's involvement in this CSR project not only demonstrates its concern for the environment but also serves as an opportune moment to inspire business actors to also care about environmental sustainability," said Joshua from the Trilogy Ocean Restoration Foundation.

Why Coral Reefs?

Coral reefs are the "lungs of the ocean" that play a vital role in absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, contributing oxygen, and providing habitats for thousands of marine species.

Mature coral reefs are known to absorb carbon 4 times more effectively than mature trees in forests. This process is called biomineralization, absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and converting it into oxygen and essential minerals in the ocean.

Joshua, one of the contributors at the Trilogy Ocean Restoration Foundation, explained that coral reefs are actually animals that live symbiotically with microscopic plants in a mutually beneficial relationship.

Trilogy Ocean Restoration: Broader Conservation

Established in 2020, the Trilogy Ocean Restoration Foundation now manages more than 8,756 Super Corals, a type of coral reef resistant to high temperatures due to climate change. 

Beyond coral reefs, together with the community, the foundation also extends to mangrove restoration projects, seagrass restoration, and educational trips in Karimunjawa National Park.

"Our synergy with the Karimunjawa community is key to successfully achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14, which is to protect and sustainably use marine ecosystems," Joshua added.

In 2024, coinciding with Vapeboss's 10th anniversary on October 31st, Vapeboss is committed to CSR activities by collaborating with the Trilogy Ocean Restoration Foundation, which is highly experienced in environmental conservation.

In her statement, Caroline Sutjipto, CFO of Vapeboss, revealed the personal and professional motivations driving this commitment. 

"Since having three children, Raymond and I have increasingly considered the broader environmental impact. We want to provide our children with clean air without pollution, clear oceans without waste, and a sustainable living environment," Caroline stated. 

"Our dream is for our children to grow up on a healthy earth and have a bright future," she continued.

This decision not only stems from personal aspirations but also from the awareness that throughout its 10 years of operation, Vapeboss, like many other businesses, has contributed to climate change through its carbon footprint and emissions. 

Therefore, on this happy day, we not only want to celebrate the company's anniversary but also want to be a blessing and give back to the environment.

With the help of Trilogy Ocean Restoration, we will plant 1,000 coral reefs in Karimunjawa National Park as a form of our company's concern for the earth and the environment.
