Vapeboss - The rampant news of misuse of electronic cigarettes or vape products is deeply regrettable to the Indonesian Personal Vaporizer Association (APVI).

APVI Secretary-General, Garindra Kartasasmita, stated that the latest method of abuse currently involves narcotics in vape liquids. Therefore, his organization is committed to continuously enhancing supervision.

"This situation reminds us as an association of vape entrepreneurs to remain committed to increasing supervision," Garin said.

As a preventive measure, APVI will carry out more intensive supervision of its members through a task force that has been established.

"We will once again actively report any sales targeting the vape user community through the APVI task force, which was formed a long time ago to report misuse and illegal products," Garin emphasized.

Garin continued, vape is a product of technological development that applies the concept of harm reduction to help adult smokers quit their habit. According to him, the government needs to introduce regulations for alternative tobacco products that are different from cigarettes so that there is no room for vape misuse, while maximizing the potential of these products.

"We will support regulations that are based on clear foundations, such as scientific studies. We are also actively conducting several research studies to then be used as discussion material with the government," he said.

In addition, APVI also emphasizes that alternative tobacco products such as vape are only intended for adult smokers aged 18 and above. The risk profile of vape itself is much lower than that of cigarettes, because the system applied by vape is through heating, which produces vapor, not combustion, which produces smoke.
