Vapeboss – Hello vapers! Dota 2 game developer, Valve, has officially announced Seattle as the venue for the most prestigious Dota 2 tournament, The International 12 (TI 12). After holding TI in several countries such as Singapore, Bucharest, Shanghai, and Vancouver, TI is now returning to the United States.
Previously, Seattle hosted TI in 2017. At that time, the champion, Team Liquid, climbed from the lower bracket and managed to take home the Aegis after a decisive 3-0 victory against Newbee in the grand final.
The announcement of TI's return to the United States was officially made by Valve after ESL One Berlin Major concluded. Quoted from Dota 2's official YouTube channel, the TI 12 event, with Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle, United States as the venue, will be held in October 2023.
Seattle's selection as the venue is also due to Valve's headquarters being located in Bellevue, Seattle. For TI 12, the main event will take place from October 27 to 29, 2023. Meanwhile, the group stage and playoffs will begin on October 14, 2023.
For your information, Climate Pledge Arena was previously the same venue where TI was held, but at that time it was still called KeyArena. The name KeyArena was retained until 2018 when the center was closed for renovation and reopened as Climate Pledge Arena in 2021. Quoted from AFK Gaming, Climate Pledge Arena can accommodate 18,000 people after renovation.
TI 12 will also revert to using a format of 18 participating teams from 6 different DPC regions. So far, only Team Liquid is confirmed to compete in TI 12.
