Hello Big Boss!! How are you today? I hope you're always healthy, your sustenance flows smoothly, and all your activities are made easy!!
The smoking consumption rate in Indonesia has reached 66% among adult men and 19% among young people aged 13-15. From this data, it can be concluded that Indonesia is the largest cigarette consumer country in the world. Based on this, Indonesia has become a potential market for e-cigarettes. Moreover, the e-cigarette industry is also recognized as the largest market in the Southeast Asian (ASEAN) region.
This was stated by Adisatrya Suryo Sulisto, a member of Commission VI of the House of Representatives, at an event themed "Vapetrepreneur" held at the Good Rich Hotel, South Jakarta, on Friday, May 14, 2022.
"The vape business in Indonesia is relatively new, and I see its potential as extraordinary, because the vape industry in Indonesia is a big market in ASEAN," said Adi.
Representatives from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) also agreed with this statement. Due to the rapidly increasing number of e-cigarette users since 2015, he believes that the vape industry in Indonesia will experience significant growth in the next decade.
"In the next ten or fifteen years, I am confident that Indonesia will enter the top seven economies in the world. So our future project plan is already heading in the right direction. Naturally, along with that, the vape industry will continue to grow," he explained.
Adi hopes that local vape industry entrepreneurs can continue to innovate in creating e-cigarette products that consumers can enjoy. Thus, minimizing reliance on imported products can be continuously pursued through locally produced goods by domestic entrepreneurs.
"Hopefully, more local content will be produced domestically. Perhaps now there is a lot of importation involved in the vape industry, but in the future, I hope we can minimize the level of importation," he said.
"Because the domestic market is very large, and its supply chain will also be produced domestically in the future. This will involve more SMEs in Indonesia," he added.
