Vapeboss – The Chairman of the Indonesian Personal Vaporizer Association (APVI), Aryo Andrianto, believes that other tobacco processing products (HPTL), such as vapes, are becoming increasingly popular among various groups. Seeing the growing trend of vapes, Aryo is confident that the vape market's potential will continue to increase in the next 10 years.
"We believe that vapes will continue to develop for the next 10 years, innovations will continue, and businesses will grow," said Aryo, quoted from detik finance.
This has led many artists to collaborate with vape industry players in Indonesia to create new vape products. In 2023, many artists and celebrities, such as Band Tipe-X, Raffi Ahmad, Arian Seringai, and Gofar Hilman, started venturing into the vape business.
Tipe-X, an SKA punk band, created a liquid product from their collaboration with Rcraft. Following in the footsteps of other music groups that had previously become brand ambassadors for vape brands like Dewa 19 and Slank, Tipe-X also joined the Indonesian e-cigarette market.
"We wanted something new. We saw that millennials are really into vapes. There's a shift happening there. That's why we saw a new opportunity here," said Tresno, the vocalist.
On the other hand, Raffi Ahmad expanded his business ventures by partnering with Budiyanto, the Founder of Jakarta Vapor Shop (JVS). He entered the Indonesian vape industry and established PT idPods Kreasi Indonesia, with a commitment to supporting Indonesian-made products to grow and advance the Indonesian economy.
"I believe in the power of social media users in our country; if combined with their creativity, it will surely have a huge impact in advancing Indonesian-made products. We can definitely make many Indonesian products go international," said Raffi Ahmad.
Arian, the vocalist and frontman of the band Seringai, committed himself to the vape business through Space Cake, a collaboration between Lawless Jakarta and Public Distribution. This vape business was actually a long-held dream for Arian Seringai, which had been postponed.
"Now I'm starting to try the vape business, even though I've wanted to do it for a long time but it was postponed because one of the five of us as founders wasn't comfortable with the vape business," said Arian Seringai during the introduction of Space Cake in the SCBD area, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Wednesday night (25/1/2023).
In addition, a presenter and radio announcer, Gofar Hilman, also ventured into a similar business. He plans to reduce his on-screen appearances. In the next two years, he admitted that he wants to test his abilities as someone behind the scenes, as a creator or conceptualizer.
Gofar realizes he is still relatively new to the vape industry. His interest in entering this business actually began during the pandemic, when he spent more time at home. Then, he released the Sekut E-Juice liquid product in 2 variants, Berry Crunch (creamy) and Berry Party (fruity).
"If you call me a newbie, yes. I started vaping during the pandemic. I spent a lot of time playing PS, then I tried buying a vape, and finally tried making my own liquid. So what was on my mind, I implemented into this liquid," explained Gofar.
