The vape industry in Indonesia is increasingly advanced, so what exactly are the developments in this industry in the current era? Read this article!

The Indonesian Personal Vaporizer Association, or APVI, states that the vape industry has created many job opportunities and directly absorbed 50,000 workers. According to them, this number does not include workers in retail stores and indirect workers involved in supporting industries.

General Secretary of APVI, Garindra Kartasasmita, added that current data shows the number of vape industry players in Indonesia has reached more than 5000 retailers, 300 e-liquid producers, and more than 100 producers of devices, tools, and accessories. Most of these are MSMEs in the early stages of business development.

Therefore, the Head of the Bali Vaporizer Alliance (AVB), I Gde Agus Mahartika, hopes that the government can implement a specific excise structure for vape products, which is considered the most appropriate structure to achieve simplicity, transparency, sustainability, and encourage producer compliance.

I Gde Agus Mahartika also stated that such an approach would optimize revenue flow and prevent illegal vape products from entering Indonesia. "PAVENAS also hopes the Government can consider an excise policy proportional to health risks, which can provide an opportunity for adults to switch to lower-risk products," said I Gde Agus Mahartika in his webinar.

From the consumer side, the Chairman of AVI (Indonesian Vapers Alliance), Johan Sumantri, said, "We hope the price of vapes can remain affordable, but a balance is needed so that this product is not accessible to minors and non-smokers."

PAVENAS also hopes that the Government will continue to enforce and act against illegal vape products, especially to optimize state revenue and protect vape users from illegal products whose origins are unclear and potentially harmful.
