Vapeboss – A study conducted on over 24,000 adults in the United States (US) found that the combined use of conventional cigarettes and e-cigarettes does not reduce the risk of heart health problems.

Recently, the peer-reviewed journal Circulation was published on the American Heart Association website. The research team from the study concluded that, compared to people who exclusively used conventional cigarettes, dual users (consumers of both conventional cigarettes and e-cigarettes) did not reduce health risks such as heart attack, heart failure or stroke, or other self-reported cardiovascular diseases.

However, the report also included findings from people who used or switched exclusively to e-cigarettes. Those who reported cardiovascular-related events were lower than people who only smoked conventional cigarettes.

Smokers who switch to vaping can reduce their risk of heart disease by 34%

Meanwhile, in the same journal, recent research shows that smokers who switch exclusively to vaping can reduce their risk of heart disease by 34%.

Using a longitudinal approach, the research team analyzed data from 32,000 nationally representative adult smokers who participated in the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) during a six-year period from 2013 to 2019. The researchers assessed vaping and smoking patterns and then compared them with the incidence of self-reported heart diseases, such as stroke, heart attack, and heart failure.

The collected data showed that, compared to non-conventional cigarette users, conventional smokers experienced an 1.8 times higher risk of heart disease, while the risk for people who exclusively vaped was not statistically different from non-smokers. For this effect, the study concluded that there is a significant association between conventional smoking and heart disease, but not between vaping and heart disease.
