Vapeboss – Research led by King's College London in collaboration with a number of trusted international groups states that the use of vapes is much safer and carries lower risks. This news was recently officially announced by the British government, specifically by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities from the Department of Health and Social Care, which was previously initiated by Public Health England through its official website.
"This statement is clearly a positive reaction and a firm answer to various questions and confusions in society about e-cigarettes," said Hokkop Situngkir, chairman of the Organized Vape Consumers (KONVO).
In the study, they focused on evidence proving the health risks of vaping, including nicotine as an ingredient. The research team also compared the impact of vaping with conventional cigarettes, as well as the consistency of applying standard methods that improve the interpretation of future evidence.
The general outline of the research results can bring relief to vapers. This is because the results obtained from the basic research generally show that e-cigarettes or vapes are much safer compared to the risks of smoking conventional tobacco. Vapes significantly do not show damaging or dangerous materials or content.
According to researchers from King's College London, vaping has been shown to reduce the desire of smokers to quit by 65%, which is a larger number than the desire of pure smokers without vapes, which is only below 59%. For Hokkop, this happens because someone is not yet able to stop smoking completely or because they find a different sensation from vaping.
"With various unique and attractive device forms, especially with a variety of tempting flavors, this seems to be a greater attraction of e-cigarettes," explained Hokkop.
Then, researchers also observed aspects related to health such as the risk of cancer, cardiovascular system disorders, and respiratory or lung system disorders. It turns out they found no direct effects from vaping, where if one wants to find them, deeper and very time-consuming research is needed to fully explore vaping.
Finally, the researchers submitted a proposal for a nicotine content recipe for e-cigarette materials. Besides reducing health risks, the recipe could also be used as a legality for nicotine content in e-cigarettes and is also intended for people who want smoking cessation therapy.
"The fact that e-cigarettes can help people quit conventional tobacco smoking with the evidence they have obtained, we can learn from the British government that the suggestion of creating a nicotine recipe in vapes as a form of care can actually be applied here," said Hokkop.
