Vapeboss – Today, vape liquids come in a wide variety of flavors compared to their initial appearance. The flavors offered for each vape liquid variant are designed to provide a pleasant experience for users. Moreover, vaping also produces vapor from the heated vape liquid you inhale. The liquid, which is the main ingredient in this vaping activity, has various flavors, some of which come from food flavorings or fruits that are pleasant in the mouth.
A new bill in Ohio would ban the sale of all flavored vaping products other than tobacco and menthol that are not specifically authorized by the FDA. If passed, the bill would eliminate vape shops and eliminate legal access to products favored by most consumers, including disposable vapes and bottled e-liquids. The proposed ban was inserted at the last minute as an amendment to the Senate version of HB 33, the 2024-25 appropriations bill. The amendment received no public debate, and the bill passed the day after it was added.
The appropriations bill also includes a provision that would prohibit local governments in Ohio from passing their own tobacco and vaping-related restrictions. Such legislation would prevent cities and counties from enacting product rules that could be stricter than the state's, such as the flavor ban passed by Columbus last year.
While this provision would help vaping consumers and vape shops if the state did not also ban flavored vape liquids, it is actually designed to prevent the enactment of local ordinances that include a ban on menthol cigarette sales. Cigarette manufacturer Newport RJ Reynolds wants both provisions to become law, which would ban flavored vapes and prohibit municipal governments from banning the sale of menthol cigarettes.
If it becomes law, Ohio's 'anti-flavor' vape liquid rule amendment would prohibit the sale of any flavored vaping product (other than tobacco and menthol flavors) that has not been authorized for sale by the FDA. The FDA has not authorized any vaping products in non-tobacco flavors, or any bottled e-liquids in any flavor. This policy only permits closed-system vaping devices, all made by companies owned by large tobacco corporations, including three Vuse products, and only tobacco-flavored refills are available for those products.
