Vapeboss – Drug distribution cases are now being carried out in various ways, one of which was widely discussed a few weeks ago was through vape liquid. However, in the Muara Enim region, South Sumatra, no similar cases have been found yet.

Muara Enim Police Chief AKBP Andi Supriadi SH SIK MH, through the Head of Drug Investigation Unit AKP Burnani SH MH, stated that the distribution of drugs involving vape liquid often occurs abroad, and such cases have never been found in Muara Enim Regency.

"But it needs to be anticipated given that many people in Indonesia, including Muara Enim, already use vapes," he said.

He added that the distribution of drugs through vape liquid is a new modus operandi given that vapes have been very popular recently.

"The price will likely be more expensive because of the process to turn it into liquid. Its use is also more practical and certainly less likely to arouse suspicion," he explained.

Therefore, currently, the Drug Investigation Unit continues to make efforts in taking preventive measures by constantly providing socialization, especially in schools.

"The target is certainly the younger generation so they don't try or get involved in drugs, let alone sell them," he clarified.

Furthermore, other preventive efforts include patrolling several places suspected of being locations for drug circulation.

"Finally, there is repressive action, which is enforcement by arresting the perpetrators," he stated.

During January 2023, there were a total of 11 cases with a total of 35 grams of crystal methamphetamine as evidence.

"There are 15 suspects. The modus operandi is usually ordinary because these are small packages. It's a different story if the goods are on a large scale; there would certainly be caution and new modus operandi," he concluded.
