Over time, the trend of vape usage in Indonesia continues to rise. Both men and women are increasingly using vapes as an alternative to cigarettes and a modern lifestyle choice. With attractive and diverse models, as well as prices ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions, vapes have become a popular product among the public, especially vape consumers themselves.

Ilham Nurhidayat, a vape user and enthusiast from Majalengka, West Java, shared his experience using vapes. He mentioned that there are advantages to be gained but also disadvantages to face when becoming a vaper.

Ilham said that some advantages of using vapes include that vapes do not produce ash like conventional cigarettes. Additionally, vapes look more elegant when hanging out with friends at a café or on campus. Furthermore, vapes do not contain harmful substances like TAR found in cigarettes and have many flavor variations, ranging from fruits and pastries to beverages.

As for the disadvantages, according to Ilham, there are several things that need to be highlighted. In terms of power, vapes cannot be used when their power runs out, especially if it's an internal battery, in which case a backup battery cannot be used. Then, maintenance must be quite regular and can seem a bit complicated, such as having to replace cotton and coils over a certain period. Moreover, most vape shops or vape stores are far from home, so when people want to buy vape necessities, they tend to be reluctant to go.

However, the second disadvantage can be anticipated if using a device like a pod system. Ilham explained that the average person doesn't want to be complicated, so the right solution for such a person is to use a pod-type vape, because there's no need to replace coils or cotton; instead, you just buy a new cartridge and can immediately install and use it.

Ilham reminds that if you want to start vaping, you should be at least 21 years old, due to regulations in Indonesia stating that vape products may only be consumed by those aged 21 and above. Furthermore, there are things to consider when buying vape supplies; users must be more careful because there are many counterfeit (clone) products and also untaxed liquid products that can harm vapers.
