Hello Big Boss!! How are you today? Hope you're always healthy, have abundant fortune, and all your activities run smoothly!!

Despite being a newcomer, the vape industry in Indonesia is a large market with the potential to continue growing over time. Since 2018, the contribution of e-cigarette excise taxes has reached IDR 98.87 billion, then in 2020, it surged to IDR 680.36 billion. However, even now, many unofficial/illegal products are still circulating in the market.

Hokkop Situngkir, as the Chairman of the Organized Vape Community (KONVO), urged vape consumers to be wiser and more thorough when purchasing vape products. This is intended so that consumers can avoid illegal vape products.

"I am confident that vapers already understand how to differentiate between legal and illegal liquids. The more people understand, the existence of illegal products is expected to decrease, even disappear," he said.

He stated that for consumers to more easily access legal products and avoid illegal ones, the government needs to accommodate product choices for consumers through clear regulations, one of which is by providing equal excise tax rates.

"Trends and innovations will certainly continue to develop, and we, as consumers, will strongly support them as long as the products produced have potential benefits, are safe for consumption, and have lower risks," said Hokkop.

Hokkop hopes for cooperation between stakeholders, including consumers, industry players, and the government, in eradicating the circulation of illegal vape products.

"Of course, this must be accompanied by regulations that benefit all layers and the role of consumers in sifting through information and using products," he concluded.
