What You Need to Know When Vaping: The Importance of Nicotine Control

The Need to Control Nicotine – Hello vapers! When vaping, which inherently contains nicotine, we ourselves must determine how much nicotine we consume, whether it's a lot or a little, faster or slower, and with more or less frequency.

Effects of Consuming Too Much Nicotine

As vapers, you certainly know the effects of receiving too much nicotine in your body. These conditions include:

  1. Dizziness
  2. Headache
  3. Nausea
  4. Cold sweats
  5. Insomnia or difficulty sleeping
  6. Rapid heartbeat
  7. Anxiety or restlessness
  8. Ringing in the ears

But because our bodies know when we've had enough, we automatically feel we need to stop or slow down a bit. For experienced vapers, the process is almost imperceptible. However, for some new vapers, they tend to be surprised and continue to consume vape without heeding its effects.

Here, the role of the brain is most important. Our brain will tell us when the body needs more or less nicotine. From these warning signs, we must be more vigilant to prevent nicotine overdose. So, vapers take care of themselves by limiting their vape consumption with nicotine as needed by the body.

In addition to nicotine, cigarettes contain other chemicals that support the release of nicotine from smoke. Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) combine with nicotine to produce a reinforcing effect in the brain that makes users crave nicotine more often.

And tobacco companies have long found that adding ammonia to cigarette tobacco creates a form of nicotine that is more desirable and more addictive for users. By altering the chemical properties of the nicotine absorbed by smokers, ammonia increases nicotine levels as it enters the brain.

These are all reasons why we cannot simply compare the nicotine content of cigarettes with an equivalent amount of nic in e-liquids or nicotine patches. Vapes do not have ammonia or MAOIs. That's one reason why some scientists say that nicotine in e-cigarettes and nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) products may not be as addictive as in cigarettes.
