Vapeboss – Hello vapers! Persebaya Surabaya, the proud football club of 'arek-arek Suroboyo' (Surabaya youths), has resumed its first training session after the 2022/2023 season break. The training was held at Gelora 10 November Stadium on Wednesday (10/4) afternoon and was attended by 32 players.

Head coach Aji Santoso personally led the training. He stated that this first training session focused on restoring the physical condition of the Persebaya Surabaya players, as the team had not trained together for over a month.

"For now, it's just about recovering their condition. Hopefully, by Monday, all players will gather, and then we will improve the quality of the training," said Aji.

During this training session, several players were still absent, including George Brown, Muhammad Hidayat, Alwi Slamat, and Riswan Lauhin. For the new players who have been announced, almost all of them participated in the first training. Only Yohanes Kandaimu was absent as he was still traveling to Surabaya.

Meanwhile, none of the foreign players had joined the training yet. According to Aji, they will join gradually. These players had also requested permission from the coach not to participate in the joint training.

"Some names are still absent, hopefully, they will all gather by Monday," he said.

In this first training session, an interesting aspect was the trial of 10 new players from internal selections, both from the Elite Pro Academy (EPA) and Persebaya league clubs. Aji observed several potentials to strengthen the Bajol Ijo squad.

"God willing, I am confident. It's not easy for me to constantly ponder over players every night. But I believe in the components within Persebaya. Although it certainly won't be easy, God willing, the target can be achieved," he concluded.
