Hello Bigboss!! How are you all? Hopefully, you're always healthy, all your activities run smoothly, your sustenance is made easy, and you find your soulmate, hehe!

On this occasion, we will share some of the most common MTL techniques in the vape world. But, some of you might still not know what MTL is, and that's perfect because we will also briefly review MTL, and make sure to read this article until the end! Check it out!

So, in the world of vape, there are two inhaling techniques often used by vapers: DTL and MTL. DTL (Direct To Lung) is an inhaling style that goes directly to the lungs without being held in the mouth. As for MTL, which we will discuss in this article, it is an inhaling style or vaping style from the mouth to the lungs. It works by first collecting vape vapor in the mouth through a long and relaxed draw, then passing it to the lungs, and finally exhaling it. This method is similar to how people usually smoke tobacco, and old vapers are definitely familiar with this technique because early vape devices were made only for MTL use.

Then, the MTL vaping style itself is further divided into several types, namely:

Pure MTL

This type of MTL requires an atomizer with narrow construction between parts, including the airhole, chimney hole, and driptip hole. Generally, the deck size is small, only enough for a single coil, using coils with resistance above 1 ohm and a maximum power usage of approximately 15 watts. This type is more comfortable to enjoy; besides its throat hit (TH) being gentle on the throat with low power usage, it will reduce the risk of overly hot vapor so that the flavor becomes clearer. It is highly recommended for high-nicotine e-liquids, both freebase and salt nic. This type is further divided into 2, depending on the user's interest and preference.

Hybrid MTL

As the name suggests, hybrid is a combination of MTL and DTL vaping styles, more commonly known as Restricted Lung Hit. It's actually still debatable because, from the device setting perspective, this type falls under MTL due to the narrow airflow space in the atomizer, typical of MTL usage. From the inhalation method, this type uses a DTL inhalation technique, the only difference being that the draw time for Restricted is longer with slightly higher battery power, usually between 25 – 30 watts.

For this Restricted type, all atomizers, both regular and MTL-specific, can be used. Nevertheless, the results will certainly differ. For example, a Berserker can still be used for restricted purposes, although the results may not be optimal. Or a Goon 24 can also be used... as long as you're willing to make some slight modifications in certain parts, such as using a smaller driptip and the smallest airflow setting. The results and other effects like heat depend on the user's quality. A single-coil atomizer with a deck that isn't too large and flexible airflow with many options can be a suitable choice for this type of vaping style.

Tight draw

This type of MTL gives a sensation similar to inhaling cigars or dense clove cigarettes like djis*mso* etc. The draw is heavier but still relaxed, all atomizer holes are set as narrow as possible, and the inhalation is somewhat long. Not all MTL atomizers can be used for tight draw, depending on their construction. The Berserker mini is one of the top-noted MTLs of this type; besides being tight, its draw is also very smooth, almost silent. Other atomizers that can accommodate a tight draw include the dvarw, spica, kayfun lite v2, russian, and certain pod system brands.

Loose draw

The sensation obtained is like inhaling tobacco cigarettes without cloves. The airflow used is slightly looser, so the draw is lighter, and the puff time is shorter compared to a tight draw. On average, all MTL atomizers can be used for loose draw, even tight draw atomizers. Siren 2, Ares, Hastur mini, Zeta, kayfun prime, squape, pico v1/v2, and many more are examples of MTL atomizers that are more specifically used for loose draw.

Now that you know what MTL is and what MTL inhaling styles are like, you're probably wondering, which is better for MTL, RTA or RDA?

Generally, most people who want to use the MTL style in vaping tend to use RTAs rather than RDAs, because if you use an RDA, you have to buy a driptip specifically for MTL (usually size 510). However, over time, many atomizers are now produced that can be directly used for MTL, whether it's an RTA or an RDA. But mostly, in both national and international vape markets, RTAs are the most popular.

And another thing, whether an RTA is good for MTL is relative; there isn't always one that is the best. There might be the most expensive ones, but sometimes we are faced with the classic question, "Which is better, RTA X or RTA Y?" Such a question is common for every atomizer and is difficult to answer when the price range isn't significantly different, and there's a possibility of friction between users, even if only internally. There needs to be clear parameters when making a comparison because the subjectivity of each user's perspective varies. Each individual has different interests and attractions to an object, whether it's the design and shape, or the level of tightness to looseness, and so on. Not to mention the flavor produced, which highly depends on the user's skill and supporting device.
