Paido Siahaan, Chairman of the Indonesian Vape Consumers Association (AKVINDO), stated that the notion that Alternative Tobacco Products (ATPs) are harmful to the environment is incorrect. "Is there more plastic packaging waste from e-cigarettes than other products? I don't think so. In terms of numbers, e-cigarette plastic packaging waste is less than other products," Paido said.

Because ATP products like vapes are relatively new, Paido admitted that sometimes the public still cannot accept the presence of such technology, but over time, people have started to realize and accept it.

"When I first started using e-cigarettes, there were certainly complaints from people around me because it was still considered something new. However, it's different now," he explained.

Furthermore, using ATPs also provides better health quality for its users, especially for smokers who switch. He proved this through the improvement in his body's health condition when he switched from conventional cigarettes to e-cigarettes.

"Now I wake up much fresher, my exercise duration is longer, and it doesn't leave an unpleasant smell on my clothes and car," he said.

However, Paido expressed some regret that some people consider alternative tobacco products to be as risky as regular cigarettes. In fact, many studies and research conducted both domestically and internationally conclude that ATPs have a lower risk profile than cigarettes.

"E-cigarettes have a 95 percent lower risk than cigarettes. I think this is the best answer to avoid creating an inaccurate perception," he concluded.
